Sobre o original:
Although in the 2010 season Mercedes took part in the Formula 1 races with their own team, the engine supply contract with McLaren remained in place. Therefore in 2010 also, the silver/red MP4-25 is powered by a 780 bhp Mercedes-Benz 8-cylinder engine. The completely redesigned car is conspicuous for its rear double diffuser, a long fin extending to the rear wing and an unusual overall length of 4.8 m. Jenson Button, 2009 World Champion drives the McLaren-Mercedes MP4-25 starting in pole position. After his wins in Australia and China and several second places, after the 14th race he had already clocked up 165 points and had early on secured his position among the leading five drivers.
The MP4-25 was newly developed for 2010 in accordance with the new FIA rules. McLaren had already been thinking in terms of a double diffuser and completely rebuilt the rear of the Formula 1 car with a view to perfecting the aerodynamics. So now a long fin extends from the bonnet to the rear wing and the side pods that come together behind the cockpit despite a tank with a 160 litre volume are considerably narrower. The front also with its flat raised nose is also striking. By the 14th race, Lewis Hamilton, 2008 World Champion, had won three Grand Prix, including that in Canada. Also thanks to his second place in Great Britain, in the 2010 season he was regarded as the firm favourite for the drivers title.
